The Dante Wesley Weekend Event, held Friday, July 12 and Saturday, July 13 will include a Celebrity Golf Classic, Celebrity Football Camp and a Red Carpet Affair Celebrity Bash to raise money for the non-profit, Nourishing Minds, Inc.
Dante Julius Wesley is an NFL veteran who was drafted by the Carolina Panthers in the fourth round of the 2002 NFL Draft. Wesley has been a member of the Chicago Bears, New England Patriots and Detroit Lions who is partnering with the non-profit Nourishing Minds, Inc. to help end child hunger in Texas.
Nourishing Minds, Inc. offers the At-Risk Snack Program, Child Care Center Food Program and Summer Food Service Program free-of-charge to serve children throughout Texas.
The Dante Wesley Celebrity Golf Classic is Friday, July 12 at Tangle Ridge Golf Club (1818 Tangle Ridge Drive, Grand Prairie, Texas 75052). Register online at dantewesleycelebrityweekend.com. Celebrities participating in the event include George Teague, Christ Johnson, Fred “The Hammer” Williamson, Willie Roaf, Spud Webb, Andre Pitre, Charnele Brown, Ricky Manning, Jr., among many others. Registration is $150 per player and $600 per team. All proceeds benefit the non-profit Nourishing Minds Inc. and cover your green fee, cart, range balls, lunch buffet and golf apparel. The Dante Wesley Celebrity Football Camp on July 13 is great for kids ages 9 – 17. Registration occurs from 8:00 a.m. – 8:50 a.m. and the camp runs from 9:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. Professional NBA players will host the camp including George Teague, Chris Johnson, Ken Lucas, Willie Roaf, Michael Booker, Terrence McGee, Bashir Yamini, Pete Hunter, Montae Reagor and more. Here at SouthStar Communities we’ve been working with Operation FINALLY HOME to donate homesites to veterans. In the coming years, our nation’s cities and towns will welcome home more than 1 million veterans who may return to face financial struggles – especially if they have been injured in the line of duty.
This is a big part of why we’re working with Operation FINALLY HOME. The charity partners with corporate sponsors, builders, developers and volunteers to provide custom-built, mortgage-free homes to wounded and disabled veterans and the widows of the fallen.
Working with the nonprofit, SouthStar Communities has donated three homesites to veterans in our Vintage Oaks community and one homesite in our King Oaks community, a development located near College Station, Texas. Most recently, we announced the donation of another homesite in The Sanctuary at Lake Ridge in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. We’re working with the Dallas Builders Association and the NFL Former Players Association to build a custom home for an area veteran, and we just launched a campaign to raise funds and the donation of materials and volunteer time to bring that to life for another patriot.
