Texas Rangers update

Are you watching the game today? Yu Darvish is on a roll, but several fans are concerned with the blister on his right hand. Last Sunday during the 7-3 win over the Los Angeles Angels, Yu was replaced after 85 pitches for this minor injury. Apparently, he confirms to be completely fine and ready for the Mariners today.

Not wanting to be short on their rotation, Washington is trying hard to keep his team in stellar heath. If Yu’s lucky stride stops short, we are looking at Justin Grimm, Randy Wells, and Brad Mills. The team is hoping to get the injured Martin Perez and Colby Lewis back on next month.

On another note, Elvis Andrus signed on an 8-year extension recently. Stability is much needed for the team as Hamilton’s departure has unseated the majority of Ranger’s fan base.

What is your take on the Ranger’s performance so far? Let us know if you think they will  come out on top this season.

Lone Star Park begins spring season after $11 million in improvements

When the horses leave the gates for Lone Star Park’s 17th spring thoroughbred racing season Thursday, racegoers and horsemen will see $11 million in improvements.

In January, the main one-mile dirt track was stripped to its limestone base and reconditioned with a mixture of sand, clay and cushioning. About $800,000 was spent to replace the track lighting system. And a new 17-by-60-feet infield screen was installed at the center of the racetrack.

During the summer, all of Lone Star’s buildings were repainted.

Inside the grandstand, the 1,200-seat Silks Dining Terraces was renovated with new furniture and paint. Racegoers can enjoy a new menu while watching one of the 300 flat screens, which replaced the small, older tableside TVs.
