North Texas Giving Day – It’s Good to Give Back

On September 18th, North Texas Giving Day inspired the Dallas region to get involved in charity work. In her article on Dallas Culturemap, Claire St. Amant explains why the yearly event is spectacular, and why it symbolizes great Texan community.

What is North Texas Giving Day?

North Texas Giving Day, as St. Amant explains, is an event “organized by the Communities Foundation of Texas…  [a] one-day fundraiser [that] connects donors to local nonprofits.” What makes the yearly event so spectacular is the amount of money that is raised in the allotted 24 hours. St. Amant notes that this year,  “…Dallas-area nonprofits were $26.3 million richer…”

It’s All Thanks To Texan Communities

Raising the money wouldn’t be possible without the commitment made by the Communities Foundation of Texas. The Communities Foundation made “an enticing promise to amplify any donation of $25 or more made on the North Texas Giving Day website with $2 million in bonus funds” writes St. Amant.

The Dallas, TX and surrounding communities should also be thanked for the tremendous effort put forward at North Texas Giving Day. Admiration for the community’s charity work was heavily expressed when the grand total of money was counted at midnight.

St. Amant discloses that, “in a statement issued just after the midnight giving deadline, president and CEO of Communities Foundation of Texas Brent Christopher praised the results….” In his statement Christopher specifically mentions the enthusiasm and support showed by the “community”.

Lake Ridge Gives Back

It is tight-knit communities like Lake Ridge that are likely to step forward and aid local causes. Located just 30 minutes from Dallas, Texas, the community at Lake Ridge values charity work just as much as Dallas locals.

Lake Ridge itself is home to one particularly outstanding charity, Operation FINALLY HOME, a nonprofit that provides mortgage-free homes to wounded veterans. Not only has the charity helped those in need but it has also helped ensure that the Lake Ridge community is built around people with heart.
